VoiceIT - Strengthening LGBTIQ+'s Voice in Politics

​This poster is the result of VoiceIt Project,  a 24 months European project funded under the REC programme.
Its aim is to contribute to the inclusion of LGBTQI+ people in political decision-making processes in Greece, Cyprus, Italy by:
  • Co-creating a shared vision regarding LGBTQI+ inclusion in politics
  • Increasing LGBTQI+’s participation in political decision-making
  • Creating and strengthening of national/international networks for LGBTQI+ individuals interested in participating in the political decision making processes
  • Raising awareness about misconceptions regarding LGBTQI+ rights, LGBTQI+ experiences of discrimination and the importance of including minorities in political decision making processes
  • Creating an action plan for policy change for an LGBTQI+ inclusive society
The project is coordinated by the Greek NGO KMOP in cooperation with ANS (Italy), Accept (CY) and UNRISD (United Nations Research Institute for Social Development).

Portuguese LGB people 55+ coming out experience – A pilot study

The poster is the basis of a master dissertation about “Portuguese LGB people aged 55+ coming out (CO) experience”.
Possibly these LGB people with 55 or more years of age represent the last generation experiencing the need to hide their identity during adolescence and adulthood as a member of the community. Having lived in a still recent Portuguese historical period where they could not reveal their sexual orientation for fear of rejection and persecution. Many were afraid to admit to themselves their own sexual identity as a reflection of the internalized negative stereotypes the LGB people faced in that Portuguese society (Fredriksen et al., 2015; Marques & Sousa, 2016).
